Situ8/SaluteAmerican

Internship for the month of February 2012

My internship with Situ8 Experiential Agency in Chicago has really grown into a learning experience on multiple levels. I began as a creative intern, planned to do some video, photo and design work for their new website. The small agency, with a very progressive spark, let me in on an upcoming project. Well, you can call it more than a project. It is a new corporation in its entirety, launching products on a platform with a mission to support American veterans with a long-term plan.  My job has been to understand the mission of this new beverage corporation and the big picture of how their business will be ran—it is commerce with a purpose.

My first few weeks were dedicated to social networking and creating a tribe of connections through twitter. I learned about many veterans groups and journalists that work solely for veteran causes. I also put together a list of American-made products that pride themselves on being just that. This beverage corp. is also one that is aiming to distill, package, and produce solely in the U.S. Learning how successful companies use their social and environmental platforms to do business and to market themselves would be a crucial thing to understand. In addition, if a few very credible sources find my product and tweet about it, they are essentially doing all of the work for me, as their followers are automatically interested in what they are saying. I believe these are called "Culture Makers".

The last two weeks of my internship have been working on a video brief for the beverage company's mission. It is to be a short animated film that relays their mission through a simple storyline. I started with working on the wording and creative storyboard process and am now working in Adobe After Effects to put the project on screen. Here are some notes and process work.
